Governance, risk, and strategic clarity for financial institutions navigating trade, technology, and capital flows.
James F. Trocmé brings more than three decades of experience across competitive intelligence, trade finance, development banking, financial‑services technology, and asset management. His work helps boards and executive teams convert disciplined information into durable strategy, resilient operations, and accountable governance.
About me:
My career began in competitive intelligence and trade finance, where I learned to read markets, anticipate competitor and policy moves, and translate fragmented signals into decision‑ready insight. Early roles in development banking and trade finance instilled credit discipline, sovereign risk assessment, and an appreciation for contingent liabilities. I then moved into financial‑services technology at Diebold, integrating hardware and software across retail banking channels and confronting operational risk at scale. At Citigroup I extended that perspective into digital banking, payments, and strategic transformation.
In 2016 I founded EDIC (Every Drop of Information Counts) Consulting to advise fintech and financial institutions on digital banking, payments infrastructure, and channel strategy. In 2017 I launched Cevenol Capital a practice focused on disciplined asset management and long‑term capital stewardship. Both entities were later retired December 2025, as I shifted focus to board service, governance advisory, and teaching. Today I apply a dual vantage point—capital stewardship and operational strategy—to help institutions strengthen oversight, manage contingent exposures, and align incentives for long‑term value creation.
I am focusing my next chapter on board service, advisory roles, and teaching/coaching, where I can leverage decades of international leadership experience to help organizations thrive. At this time, I am not pursuing new investments, equity stakes, or angel opportunities. My energy is directed toward guiding companies through governance, strategic transformation, and purpose‑driven growth, ensuring they balance profitability with meaningful impact.Teaching & Coaching Focus I actively share expertise in business market and competitive intelligence within technology and financial services, including compliance, geopolitical dynamics, and economic risk analysis. My goal is to equip current and future leaders with the insight to anticipate disruption, interpret global trends, and make informed strategic decisions in complex environments.Core themes and strengthsCompetitive intelligence: A persistent capability from the start of my career; converts market signals into strategic options.Governance and oversight: Board‑level focus on institutional integrity, accountability, and decision frameworks.Risk discipline: Credit, operational, regulatory, and systemic risk expertise.Systems thinking: Diagnosing how complex financial and technology systems behave under stress.Technology and operations: Practical experience with hardware/software integration and channel delivery at scale.Capital stewardship: Investment oversight, allocation discipline, and long‑term value orientation.
